From Nurse Jenna

Hello, Glen Hill families!

It is that time of year again–Our students are inside more, being in close contact with one another, and you might be hearing more sneezes and sniffles (or experiencing them yourself!). That being said, our community typically sees an increase in illnesses. Some health notices you may see sent home with your student include:

  • Upper respiratory infections (like influenza or strep)

  • Gastrointestinal issues

  • Lice notice

These notices are sent home when the health office has been notified of a specific illness or case(s) to keep families well-informed and manage any illnesses that may arise. All notices are kept anonymous to maintain privacy. As a reminder, if your student is sick, please:

  • Inform the front office of your student’s absence

  • Keep your student home until they are 24-hours fever free without the use of fever reducing medications

  • Keep your student home until they are 24-hours free of vomiting/diarrhea

Hand washing is a great tool to prevent illnesses at home and at school. Your student should be washing their hands for at least 20 seconds with soap and water. To prevent lice transmission, you can have a conversation with your student about not sharing personal items like hats, coats, headphones or scarfs, and limiting head to head contact with other students.

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me at the information below

Happy winter!

Spring Weather Reminders

As the weather begins to warm up, the grass is very muddy. Please make sure your students have an extra pair of shoes and extra set of clothes at school in case your student gets too dirty when outside during recess.

Car Line/Parking Lot Arrival and Dismissal

To help keep arrival and dismissal safe and efficient for all students, we want to all families to be aware of the following items:

  • Parking lot = Car line only. During arrival and dismissal, there will be no parking in the lot.

  • Walkers may be held briefly. If you are walking and crossing near our crossing guard, please wait until you are directed to cross. The crossing guard will be monitoring traffic flow and may temporarily hold walkers so car line traffic can clear.

  • Right turn only when exiting. Families in the car line will continue to turn right only when leaving the parking lot. Please follow the crossing guard’s directions when stopping or going.

Thank you for helping us keep the process safe and moving smoothly for everyone!

March's Key-Flexiblity

FLEXIBILITY – Be willing to do things differently

Recognize what’s not working and be willing to change what you’re doing to achieve your goal. Flexibility is the willingness to try something different when we realize that what we’re doing isn’t working. Many times a day we are faced with situations that are different from what we had originally planned. One way to deal with these

situations is to be rigid and continue to do things in the same way over and over—another is to handle them with flexibility. Being flexible is responding to changing or new situations in ways that move us forward. Flexibility is about not getting locked into one way of doing something. If we’re trying to achieve something (like getting up on time in the morning) and it’s just not working, we try another way (like moving the alarm clock to the other side of the room so we have to get up to shut it off). Flexibility is about recognizing all kinds of habits or patterns or activities in our life that aren’t working and changing them, and even changing them again until we find the one that works!
